Privacy Policy

Phone number

- required to create your account and sign in (via a one-time SMS code). It is your account identity.

Name

- to personalise the app.

Email address (optional)

- only if you add one, to send you alert emails. Verified by a one-time code.

WhatsApp number (optional)

- only if you enable WhatsApp alerts.

Location (optional)

- when you tap "use my location" while creating a follow, we use your device location to center the map. We store the center point and radius you choose, not a continuous location history. You can also enter a location manually and never share device location.

Notification token

- a push-notification identifier for your device, so we can deliver alerts.

Solely to run Kahu: to authenticate you, to let you follow areas, and to deliver the alerts you ask for. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Google Firebase

- phone-number sign-in and push-notification delivery.

WhatsApp / email delivery

- only if you enable those channels, to send your alerts.

These providers process data on our behalf to provide the service.

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data yourself, at any time, from your settings in the app (You → Danger zone → Delete my account & data) - this takes effect immediately and cannot be undone. If you can't sign in, or you only want specific data removed, ask us by emailing support@thoughtengine.com, or use our account deletion page.

All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).

Kahu is intended for users aged 18 and older and is not directed at children.

This policy is governed by the laws of India.

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
